LEAD Safely & ALC Placement Credit Guidelines

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and the Alternative Learning Centers remain committed to providing a safe learning environment for all students and staff. Parents and students may access the district’s LEAD Safely plan on the district website. CFISD Lead Safely 2021 - 2022
CFISD’s Lead Safely plan outlines the health and safety protocols for staff, students and visitors.

● Students, staff and visitors must screen daily (prior to entering a school bus or school) for symptoms of COVID-19. If symptoms are experienced, individuals must not report to school or work until evaluated by a licensed healthcare provider.
○ Symptoms of COVID-19 include:
■ Cough
■ Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
■ Loss of taste/smell
■ Nasal congestion
■ Sore throat
■ Headache
■ Fever at or above 100°F
■ Vomiting/diarrhea

To provide a safe environment for all and to prevent the spread of COVID-19, a 5-day grace period will be provided to allow ALC students with COVID-19 symptoms to 1) see a licensed healthcare provider, 2) schedule a COVID-19 test and 3) provide ALC with test results--either positive or negative. Timely communication and documentation must be returned to ensure placement credit is coded accordingly.
Students who test positive for COVID-19 shall enter isolation. Individuals shall not go to school, must report his/her absence to the Attendance Secretary, and should isolate themselves from others for a minimum of 5 days after symptom onset or positive test date (whichever occurred first). With documentation, a doctor’s note and a positive test result, these isolation days will count toward a student’s placement.

Students may return to school after 5 days of isolation if all symptoms are improving or resolved and fever (100.0 F or above) has been absent for at least 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication. Additional documentation from a licensed healthcare professional will be required if a student is not able to return after 10 days.

The same 5-day grace period will be applied if a student has been directly exposed to an in-home positive individual and the family is choosing to quarantine to slow the spread. Proof of a positive COVID test must be provided.
